Roble Reuse
“The Roble Reuse is an effort to give the Stanford community a consistent place and time to donate or grab free shoes, clothing items, and dorm essentials.”
This new initiative was started in Fall 2018, with the hopes of promoting environmental sustainability–in line with ROLLSS programming–and the financial sustainability of students on campus. The Roble Reuse accepts donations of lightly-used clothing, shoes, school supplies, and dorm essentials.
How does it work?
Students are also welcome to take anything from the Reuse free of charge. Donating is not required of students who wish to take items from the Reuse. Clothing or materials which are not taken after a quarter will be donated off-campus, so make sure to check the Roble Reuse before you miss out!
What can I find at the Roble Reuse?
All sorts of items have been donated to date. These include, but are not limited to, clothing (professional and casual), shoes, plastic drawers, brita water filters, comforters and sheets, backpacks, steamers, bike helmets and accessories, clocks, whiteboards, hampers, and more!
When can I go?
The hours for winter 2020 are:
Thursdays from 3-6 p.m.
Sundays from 2-5 p.m.
The Roble Reuse is open at least two days a week: once during the week and once on the weekend. The hours vary by quarter, so be sure to check our website and subscribe to our email list (roble-reuse-announce) to get up-to-date information.
Where is it?
We are located in Roble Hall. If you want to come to the Reuse, go to the front entrance near Windhover. Please go to the basement door as shown in the picture, and call (510)-680-3396 or message our Facebook page. Sometimes the cell reception in the basement is not all that great, which is why we have a Facebook page. On the other hand, we use this google voice number to cater to those who do not use Facebook.
How much as been donated already?
Students donated 492.4 pounds of donations in the 2018-2019 school year!
Where do we send donations that we don’t accept?
Some items donated (bathing suits, undergarments, toys, kids clothes, etc.) are not consistent with what we accept, but are completely functional. These are donated to a local Goodwill.
Any jeans that are ripped or extremely worn are taken to Madewell in the Stanford Shopping Center to be recycled into housing insulation.
